energy harvesting, power harvesting, energy scavenging

[DEFINITION]
technology by which electric energy is derived from environmental sources and stored in the storage device.(IEC/2015)

[DESCRIPTION]

MEMS technology is often used for typical energy conversion devices. Examples of environmental energies are solar energy, thermal energy, wind energy and mechanical vibration energy. Typical storage devices are a capacitor, super capacitor, and battery. The important applications of energy harvesting are the environmental monitoring system in the wide area or remote area, the security system, the building maintenance system, and the factory maintenance system.
