Dr. GEOFF BEARDMORE

PhD. BscTech (Hons). FIMechE. FIEE. MRAeSoc. CEng.

Dr Beardmore has a total of 47 years industrial experience, principally in the Aerospace and Defence Industries, working on inertial sensors and other devices and systems incorporating micro-technologies and micro engineering.  This work resulted in over 40 papers, some 20 worldwide patents and a range of successful sensor products.

He was Visiting Professor in Engineering Design and Micro Technologies at the Nottingham Trent University between 1990 and 2003, is an Advisory Board Member for the annual International Micromachine Symposium in Japan, and has held the position of Chief UK Delegate to the World Micromachine Summit since 1999. 

In 1981, he founded his own company, Myriad Technology, and since taking early retirement from the aerospace industry in 2001, he and his Associates have provided independent support and consultancy services for emerging technologies to a wide variety of Clients, including Regional Development Agencies, academic institutions, industrial organisations, SME’s., the European Commission and the UK Department of Trade & Industry. He has particular interests in Microsystems packaging, and in the application of micro-nano technologies in the areas of homeland security, robotics, the environment and sustainable energy.

His more recent activities include the assessment and monitoring of MNT projects on behalf of the UK Government, and an MNT Programme review for the European Commission.
